I really enjoyed getting Kaya's report card, it is always fun to see how your child is doing. Her teacher stated that she is doing great! and is not behind in any area! For that we are super thankful! We are blessed with an awesome kid and we just enjoy her to pieces. :)
Some of the highlights from the paragraph her teacher wrote us:
Kaya is doing great in kindergarten!
Her "quiet ball" is working very well for her and I see great improvement.
Kaya is reading at an Early II level, which is at the 1st grade level.
She mastered her letter/sound assessment with 100%.
She enjoys looking at books and sharing stories with others.
She has a large sight word vocabulary and is not afraid to read unfamiliar words.
She has a great deal of background knowledge and is always willing to share information and her theories in a large group setting. (I laughed and laughed at this one! Totally Kaya)
Kaya is at the emergent level in writing. (Not sure what this means)
She is working on transferring her knowledge of letters and sounds to write several sentences on any given topic.
So, I was a proud momma getting this report card. I have nothing to compare it to, but to me it sounds like she is doing great! That is all I can hope for. May we be blessed with many more great report cards, and many more happy, great years to come!
I have been wanting a way to keep everyone updated on Kaya, and I thought this was a good way to do it. I hope everyone enjoys this, and I am doing my best to keep it updated as often as possible.

a day in the life....
of us lately!
Figured an update may be nice. I am sorry I am so far behind. I am a total slacker, and if I dare admit it to you guys I have actually been very, very down lately. I hate feeling the way I have. I am hoping it is due mostly to this weather, and the fact that when I get out of work I feel like going home and staying warm. But... I do hope this passes soon! Jeremy has also not been working at all. This does not help out in the area of stress. It has been super nice having him able to bring Kaya to and from school, and make her lunch, etc. He does the whole morning routine so I have gotten quite out of the habit! shhhhh- but it is kinda nice :) But... it is straining and draining also. So, we are praying for work to come his way, and soon. Very soon. Whatever Snyder has up his sleeve can not be good for my paycheck either, so I am just waiting for that rude awakening to occur here anytime too. But- We are making it, and hanging on, and super thankful to have family and friends that we can call to vent to when needed.
Try to switch directions here! Kaya is going great. The one tooth that she lost has almost grown all the way back in already! It is amazing to me how our bodies work. School is going good. She seems to be doing a lot less interrupting and a lot more listening so we hope she stays on track with that. She had a blast playing in the fresh snow last week too. It was fun watching her enjoy it so much. What a storm we got! Glad we survived, and if you are reading this from afar be glad you missed it! There is truly not much more going on with us. We are just anxious for warmer weather to arrive to boost my vitamin D!

Blizzard! Feb 2, 2011
Whoa!!! I stayed home from work and we just shoveled and played outdoors. It was kinda fun, but only because we knew we had nothing important that needed to be done!

You can see her new tooth coming in in this pic above! So cute to me!
The snow was up to her swing!

She used her rain boots as her "people" to pull around in the sled. She had a riot outside playing! But... I can stand to not see this snow at once again anytime soon!
